The UIC Metabolic Phenotyping Core (MPC) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) plays a pivotal role in advancing health sciences by providing cutting-edge tools and expertise to study metabolic processes in rodent models.

Metabolic phenotyping is critical for understanding the complex interplay of genetic, environmental and physiological factors underlying diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disorders. By offering precise, standardized assessments of metabolic function, the MPC enables researchers to uncover novel insights into disease mechanisms and develop targeted therapies.

The core is situated at UIC and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, supports innovative studies and enhances the translational impact of biomedical research, positioning UIC as a hub for groundbreaking discoveries in metabolic health.

Meet the RRC

The Research Resources Center is a division of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Illinois Chicago. RRC offers research faculty, staff and students an inventory of high-end scientific equipment as well as a wide range of services offered by core facilities staffed with highly skilled scientists. In addition, our staff trains the research faculty, staff and students to use scientific equipment. Through the RRC, researchers have access to statistical and computational support for data handling, data transfer and interpretation of experimental results. The RRC Scientific Store supports research on campus by supplying over 1,300 items while the Scientific Instrument Shop can fabricate one-of-a-kind models and repair various complex scientific instruments. The RRC also welcomes external users doing scientific research.
